The use of fetal tissue for research dates back to around the 1920's when it was used, unsuccessfully, to treat diabetes.
Fetal tissue was used in ground breaking research that led to vaccines for diseases such as Rubella and Polio.
The main research being done now with fetal tissue are treatments for illnesses such as Parkinson's disease, Aids, Tay-Sach's disease, strokes, brain tumors, MS, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries and many other neural disorders.
